4. Lights Instrumental

Well everyone, say hello to one of the most underrated and poorly promoted J-Pop artists ever. When I first listened to Lights I was really bored with it, and I thought nothing would actually happen. The piano was really repetitive, but with some rather deep nasal-ish from Eri. Then, after about a minute, strings start to come into the picture. A minute and thirty seconds into it, percussions comes in. Then suddenly, the chorus just decides to come right at your face with very powerful vocals by Eri and a fast dance beat along with some nice strings. The chorus then fades away as quickly as it came in. Repeat. Then, the bridge comes in, with the hot dance beat and some synth, then the amazing strings yet again. During this part Eri sings a bit, and suddenly the amazing chorus is sung again, and the song quickly fades away with the sound of the dull piano chords hear in the beginning.

I gotta say, this song really amazed me, and you have to listen to it yourself. This song automatically made me fall in love with her.

The other track here is an 8 minute instrumental called I Hear The Music In My Soul. Eri does very little singing in this, other than the line “I hear the music in my soul” with the occasional alteration to her voice. I kinda enjoyed this. It’s a nice dance track, but I’ve heard much better instrumentals from other artists such as Ami Suzuki.

I really enjoyed the Acoustic version of Lights. All the fancy synth and dance beats have been removed and the piano is the only thing left. It gives the song a whole different feel to it, and you get to hear just Eri’s amazing voice without the help of background singers. In addition, the piano is different. It’s not as dull as it was in the original version.

I also watched the PV for Lights, and it really matches it. During the verses, everything is dull, boring and sad, and when the explosive chorus comes in, everything suddenly becomes happy and energetic. There’s one part where suddenly, butterflies start flying everywhere. XD A nice effect they should have added though was make the chorus times of the video in color. The entire PV is in black and white.
