This is Utada Hikarus 17th Single and was released on November 22, 2006. It reached #4 on the Oricon charts and has sold 147,041 copies. This single was used in the television commercial break special show Minna no Uta for October and November 2006. On an interesting note, this song is about a gigantic teddy bear Utada has that is named Kuma Chang.
I just wanted to say this now before getting on with the review. Boku wa kuma is a children’s song. It wasn’t meant for her regular audience but little kids. Anyway, Boku wa kuma is an adorable song that consists of only a piano. The lyrics are cute and repetitive and there is also this cute but somewhat random part where Utada speaks in French. Overall, nothing special. It was meant to be a song for a childrens song. Pretty skip worthy.
I will never really get how Utada can do such cute songs like these without making them stupid or silly. You see her flaming hot moment (like in Exodus), and then you see her huggable and adorable later. (XD)
Overall Rating:
2 out of 5
I’m one of those people who find this song adorable, but absolutely hilarious. Then again, I’m pretty easily amused.
