I agree; too many boybands (and girl-bands, Morning Musume in particular) with absolutely no or very little musical talent get no. 1. Artists who actually compose their music, or at least have the skills required to compose music, should be placed higher on the charts.
But the public won’t want that, because the public loves talent-less idols. (A little too harsh?)

Anyway, great review. And I can’t wait for her English album!

Utada didn’t release 6 New Songs last year. She only released “Flavor of Life”, “Beautiful World”, and “Kiss & Cry”.

That’s just 3 New Songs across 2 Separate Singles.

Yeah, sometimes, I do wish Hikki released a bit more stuff for us to listen to.
I’m hoping for the English album to be awesome though.
And I really don’t mind all the boy bands getting #1s because I do enjoy listening to some of them.
And Utada gets enough #1s as is already. That, along with being known as the one woman whos debut album has sold the most in Japans HISTORY. And her following albums selling amazing amounts.

I agree with you there on the whole good music, but I’d like to hear some more songs from Hikki. At least she released six new songs in 07. I hope she releases at least two more singles this year, one besides PoL. But that new album might be out so who knows. Some artists shouldn’t release so many singles. *cough EXILE cough* And I’m getting tired of so many boybands getting no. 1 on the charts, it’s so annoying. Hikki deserves no. 1!

While I really didn’t have a problem with it, I try to review the album as if I was listening to it from beginning to end.
When all those singles are bundled up like that (and I’ve listened to them all several times before), things get boring, and you’re waiting just for the new stuff to come in

That’s kinda what I like about Utada.
She does all the work herself when it comes to her music, and unlike Avex artists, she doesn’t strangle us to death with music. And since she has the time to do singles slowly, they’re often better, and it feels refreshing.

I actually liked it, the interlude help transition old to new. Although I wish that there were more songs, but then again she’s at EMI, no Avex (Avex makes artists release 3-4 singles usually a year except Ayu, EMI let’s hikki release maybe 3). Too bad, and I’d be nice if she had some PV’s to go with her songs.
