Leah Dizon - Love Paradox [4th Single]

Tracklist

  1. Love Paradox
  2. Under the Same Sky
  3. Love Paradox (Instrumental)
  4. Under the Same Sky (Instrumental)

This is Leah Dizons 4th single and was released on March 26, 2008. It reached #15 on the Oricon Charts and has sold 10,193 copies. Originally the CD only version of the single was set to feature Love Paradox (Bach Logic Remix) as the fifth track on the single, however before its release this was removed from the tracklist.

There’s one thing about Love Paradox that I want to talk about. (Well actually, there’s a lot of things). But mainly, Love Paradox is possibly Leah’s strongest single to date. Instead of doing happy bubble-gum pop songs, this time around, she opts for a much more edgier urban feel. The song is filled with a very addicting clapping/snapping beat along synth that gives this song a very strong American feel to it. But I think that most stunning thing about this song are Leah’s vocals. Even though for the most part, they are still digitally enhanced, they are still so much better than before, since she sings in a safer lower register (unlike in other songs where she struggles to reach those high notes). I guess that’s why I enjoyed the bridge most because of how it was void of the vocal enhancements. Oh yeah, and one final thing about this song to make it oh so better. This song is catchy, and I’m not kidding. It has already reached a play count of 116 for me, and as soon as you listen to this song, you’ll be singing along to it thanks to a lot of it’s English lyrics. There’s just one thing about this song I don’t like. IT’S TOO SHORT. D:< I want MOAR!

Surprisingly, even the B-side surprised, just not as much. Under The Same Sky is much calmer song, and it resembles Missing a bit, especially during the haunting chorus. However, the airy synth irritated me, along with all those alterations to Leahs voice during the chorus.

But hey, whatever, who cares about the B-side? This single still deserves this grade, despite it:

5 out of 5

Agreed on Love Paradox.
The synths in Under The Same Sky didn’t bother me.
I know on Foxxi misQ’s XBF, the Bach Logic Remix turned out really good despite vocal problems. Don’t know if it would have worked for Love Paradox.

On another note, did listen to Feel Like Dance? And how ’bout Gangsta Ayu?

I’ve never heard a Bach Logic Remix, so I wouldn’t know.

Although I did listen to Gangsta Ayu.
XDDDD
I’ll comment on that on your post later.

^ lol! You trip me out! “Gangsta Ayu?”

But I agree w/ this review. I thought this sound catered more to Leah’s vocals, & there’s no doubt that both songs are really good! Her latest single is pretty good but I have a feeling Leah’s going to become like Yuna Ito after her “HEART” album: the first single will be a really, really strong single while the remaining singles are going to be okay / good, but it’s like blehhhhhhhh…then she’ll release a terrible second album.

Anywayz, great review.

i didn’t finish listening the b side and deleted it immediately.

@Iaimusic:
Yeah, I think Leah finally found a safe zone for her vocals.
Although I think you are right.
Vanilla was horrid.

@burakkumeja [ i love how that sounds this way! i hope its okay if i write it like that from now on? ]

..tell me about it. I despise that song, but I did enjoy “LOVE SWEET CANDY”… also, anyone notice how she kind of looks like a cowgirl on the covers? At least, with the star on her cheek…

In concern to “LOVE PARADOX,” I really loved this song, and enjoyed your review on it. =D This song is actually what got me into Leah; the covers were eye-catching.

@Nao:
I thought the covers for Vanilla were cute. But the song, not so much.

I really like the Love Paradox covers too. Very simple and striking.
Although I think the actual promotional pictures were better than the covers themselves.

Brilliant!
