Morning Musume – Onna Ni Sachi Are [34th Single]

Tracklisting

  1. 女に 幸あれ (Onna ni Sachi Are)
  2. Please! 自由の扉 (Please! Jiyuu no Tobira)
  3. 女に 幸あれ (Instrumental) (Onna ni Sachi Are (Instrumental))

This is Morning Musume’s 34th single and was released on July 25, 2007. It reached #2 on the Oricon Charts and has sold 50,812 copies. This is the first single to feature 8th Generation Chinese Members Linlin and Junjun.

Onna Ni Sachi Are was actually the 3rd single I heard from Morning Musume. However, for some strange reason, I thought this single was going to suck (I blame it on the rather dull cover), but I decided to take a look at the music video, and damn did I fall in love. It was completely different from what I thought it would be. I think that out of the three singles I have heard from them, Onna NI Sachi Are has to be the most serious song I have heard from them. In addition, it is also different in terms of arrangement. It’s still a dance song, but the instead of using generic pop synth, we are treated to an awesome heavy, serious, electronic dance beat that really gets you dancing (or at least bouncing about). To top it all off, the girls vocals here are very solid. I can’t explain it, but there’s something very strong about their voices here. It was nice to hear every girls voice a few times, especially those Chinese girls. I’m not too fond of Linlin’s voice as there’s this scratchy nasally thing going on with it, but all the other girls are awesome here. I also enjoyed those sudden bursts of energy during the “baka ne baka ne baka ne” line. (Plus, it was quite humorous) <3 Overall, an awesome song to listen, and it has reached an amazing 129 plays on my iTunes in a short amount of time, and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon.

Plus, watch the music video. The yellow might give you headaches (or eye pain), but it has possibly the most confusing dance formations ever.

You thought that after Onna Ni Sachi Are, there would be a good B-side too huh? I enjoyed the B-sides of the two singles following this one, but I was really disappointed with Please! Jiyuu no Tobira. It’s painfully simple and boring, with nothing eye opening about it. The electric guitar was nice, but that’s it. I guess they ran out of creativity after Onna Ni Sachi Are. Either that, or the A-side just really out-shines this song.

Overall Rating:

4.5 out of 5
