MEG – HEART [12th Single]

Tracklisting:

  1. HEART
  2. NATALIE <FM16 MIX>
  3. HEART <PARTY MIX>

HEART is MEG’s twelfth single, and third single on Universal Music Japan. HEART was used as Dariya Cosmetic’s PALTY CM song. It was released on May 7, 2005. It reached #26 on the Oricon Charts and has sold 3,416 copies.

Album Cover:

Ah the covers for MEGs material has always disturbed, and honestly, I’m really disturbed with this single. She LOOKS like a little kid, but at the same time, she’s trying to go for some perverted stripper tease look. It makes me really uncomfortable to look at this cover, it’s like Morning Musume in bikinis, just not as bad.

The Digital Stuff You Listen To:

Now this is IT. HEART was definitely the song that got me to start liking MEG. While MEG’s voice was extremely funky in the way it was presented in MAGIC, that issue seems to go away, and her voice is much more bearable here. Her voice doesn’t have all those shifts going on. And overall, the song is just really cute and enjoyable. It’s simple, but insanely catchy, and is worth a little dance. I remember listening to this song during summer school, so the song has a bit of summery happy feel to me, and it’s also quite relaxing. I even like those notes she holds that gives the song a bit more to it. Amazingly, this song has reached 94 plays on my iTunes.

The b-side on this single is called Natalie <FM16 MIX>. Now, I have never heard the original, but I think this song is average. It feels really average and kinda empty. Some of the synth is interesting, but it’s just really dull. As I’ve said before, techno remixes aren’t the best, and I’m sure the original wasn’t that good either.

As I’ve said before, techno remixes don’t really work that well, but the Part Mix of Heart isn’t actually all the bad. It adds extra synth to the mix, and makes it more upbeat. It’s not as good as the original, but it’s pretty close.

The Promotional Video:

Now, the music video is also an almost above average kind of treat. The video is very simple, with cute little scenes of a not as pedolicious MEG singing along and moving around a bit. However, what made the video so cute was the old retro house setting, and the cute little multi colored baby chicks. <3 What bothered me though was how she always seemed to have food in front of her face, but she never ate it. Not a fan of the dog though.

Overall Rating:

3.5 out of 5
